S.S. Lazio has been penalized by Uefa due to the behavior of its fans during the match against Nizza. The Curva Nord will be closed for half against Porto and there will be a suspended penalty for another match. President Lotito commented on the decision, stating that clubs are hostage to fans. Uefa has decided to penalize Lazio with a fine of 45,000 euros and the partial closure of the Curva Nord. Sectors 48 and 49 of the Nord will be closed due to the throwing of objects, fireworks and smoke bombs in the area surrounding the playing field, and alleged fascist greetings, chants and racist howls. Uefa's decision was made after Lazio had already received a punishment on December 13, 2023 for the racist and/or discriminatory behavior of some ultras against Celtic Glasgow. President Lotito stated that football needs fundamental rules to change the system and that clubs cannot be held hostage by fan behavior. Lazio had announced the third reopening of the 'One Faith, One Passion' subscription campaign a few hours before receiving Uefa's decision. The campaign will close at 23:59 on Friday, October 18.
